You may remember that as we participated in the diocesan Rooted in Faith Campaign, we decided that 70% of the funds which would come to St. Noel were to be directed to our parish Endowment. Because of this decision and the generosity of parishioners who have made specific contributions to the Endowment, our Endowment holdings are now approaching $400,000. With this amount, a larger portion of the earnings of the Endowment are available to support present parish programs. This year our Endowment is providing $17,600 to underwrite the following efforts:
∙ Coffee and donuts after Masses for the months of September, December and May. Because of the Endowment gift, we will not be collecting your donations for donuts during those months.
∙ Travel/welcoming expenses for two women from Ceprosi in Nicaragua. They will be coming to St. Noel in late October to address us in our annual missionary appeal.
∙ The parish Spaghetti Dinner to be held this year on January 31st.
∙ The High School Youth Retreat which will take place this winter.
The purpose of the Endowment is to support the ministerial and community life of our parish. As you can see, all of the above events add to our shared life. During the months that the Endowment is providing coffee and donuts after Mass, representatives from the Endowment Committee will be in the Narthex. I hope you will take some time to speak to them, learn more about the Endowment, and explore ways by which you might contribute to it. If we work together to keep our Endowment growing, it will continue to enhance the parish life both now and in the future.
