Week of May 5, 2013
On February 24th I announced in our bulletin the effort of the Parish Pastoral Council to create a mission statement for our parish. The mission statement discerned by the council was:
St. Noel is a Catholic Community
and earnest service
all for the building of God’s Kingdom.
The council felt that the values contained in the statement were central to St. Noel and expressed accurately who we are. On the weekend of March 2-3 we conducted an in-pew survey before the Masses to determine whether our parishioners agreed with the statement. The results have been tabulated. As you may remember there were six options to express level of support with the proposed statement. We had 581 responses and the breakdown is as follows:
This was an overwhelmingly positive response with 95% of the respondents in one of the three “agree” categories. In light of the response we are adopting the statement as the official mission statement of St. Noel. The statement will soon appear on our website. It will continue to serve us as a reminder of our values as we face important decisions in the future.
The survey also included a space for comments on other parish matters. The Council is presently reviewing these and will report to you any conclusions which result from them.
I would like to thank our Council and all who participated in the survey for establishing a mission statement for our parish.
