The first week of December will be a music week at St. Noel. On Friday, December 6th, CityMusic returns to St. Noel at 7:30 p.m. Conducted by Stefan Willich, the program consists of works by Johann Strauss, Jr., Johann Hummel, Lehar, and Josef Strauss. It is obviously a concert of waltzes and polkas. The concert is free with free-will donations accepted.
On Sunday, December 8th, Apollo’s Fire, Cleveland’s Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Jeannette Sorrell will again be at St. Noel. The concert begins at 4:00 p.m. and is entitled Sacram Mysterium (Sacred Mystery):A Celtic Christmas. Apollo’s Fire is an ensemble of the highest order. On December 8th soloists Meredith Hall and Steve Playe, together with Apollo’s Singers, a collaboration with Ensember La Nef of Montreal, will present a program of holiday music, interweaving Renaissance choral music with ancient pagan carols, folk dances and joyous fiddle tunes.
Unlike most programs in our concert series, there is a cost for this concert. Ticket prices range from $26 to $62 ($10 for students). Tickets can be purchased on Apollo’s Fire websitewww.apollosfire.org or by calling 800-314-2535.
Chef Randy is offering a buffet dinner after the concert. The buffet will include tossed salad with Italian or ranch dressing, roasted chicken, sliced top round angus beef, mashed potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, bowtie pasta with Alfredo sauce, rolls and butter and carrot cake. The prices are $20 for adults, $10 for children 6-12, and no cost for children under 5. Reservations can be made by calling the Banquet Center (440-946-6635).

USHERS NEEDED – We are looking for ushers for the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sundays. We welcome men and women. The commitment is one Sunday per month and you will have a schedule in advance. If you are interested, please call the parish office (440-946-0887) for further details.
MASS AT CATHEDRAL TO CONCLUDE YEAR OF FAITH – The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King is the designated date for the conclusion of the Year of Faith. As a sign of unity in our Diocese, we will celebrate this special event at the 4:30 p.m. Vigil Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on Saturday, November 23rd. Parishioners from St. Noel are invited to join others from around the diocese at this liturgy as a visible demonstration of the Diocese of Cleveland coming together to be sent forth.

ADVENT TEA – NOTE CHANGE OF TIME – Ladies, you are invited to attend the Advent Tea on December 8, 2013. The theme this year is about Mary. The time of the tea is changed to1:30 p.m. Also be advised, that this is the last weekend to sign up if you plan to attend the tea. Sign up after the 5:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday, November 16th and between Masses on Sunday, November 17th. The price is $18.00 plus a non-perishable food item. This event supports the Social Justice Ministry.
YOUTH GROUP: There will be no Prime Time or PEACE this Sunday, November 17th. Youth and their parents are invited to attend a production of “Godspell” at Beaumont High School at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. CHRISTMAS PROJECT UPDATE: Thanks to your support last weekend, we collected $950 toward the project and gave out all 100 baskets! If you missed your chance to pick up a basket, there are still lots of ways to get involved. Sign up for cookie baking, basket wrapping and basket delivery on the kiosk in the Narthex. We are also in need of monetary donations as well as $10 gift cards to Target and Giant Eagle which will go into unsponsored baskets. Donations can be dropped off in the parish office or put into the collection basket. There will also be a representative in the Narthex after Mass to accept donations. SOCIAL ADVOCACY IN ACTION – We recently deposited $1,700 into our Social Justice fund as part of the Rooted in Faith Campaign reimbursement. This quarter we have decided to give $1,200 to the Lusubilo Orphan Care Project in Northern Malawi, a partner program with Catholic Relief Services (CRS). Lusubilo is the local word for hope, and the program provides services for more than 9,500 orphans and children made vulnerable by the AIDS epidemic. The remainder of the Rooted in Faith re-imbursement was for maintenance needs, $3,487.20 and $12,205.20 for Endowment.
SOCIAL JUSTICE/ST. AUGUSTINE – On Sunday, November 24th, our volunteers will be serving the meal at the St. Augustine Hunger Center. There is a sign-up sheet on the kiosk if you are able to lend a hand.

NICARAGUA IN 2014 – we are currently exploring the possibility of a trip to Nicaragua in 2014. We would partner with International Partners in Mission (IPM) to give 12-18 people an extraordinary look at this beautiful country and some of the local efforts being implemented to help people rise out of poverty. Our initial goal is to identify interested people willing to help make the trip possible. We will have an informational evenings on Wednesday, November 20th – where you can see the itinerary and learn about the program. Both evenings will begin at 7:00 p.m. and last 30 minutes. ST. NOEL FELLOWSHIP – Meetings are held on Thursdays at 12 Noon in the St. Noel Banquet Center Small Hall. Activities are: November 21st, meeting and socializing followed by at luncheon of pizza, turkey & swiss sandwich, potato salad, and pumpkin pie w/ice cream. There will also be celebration of birthdays and anniversaries. The cost is $6. The deadline for tickets & payment is Monday, November 18th. SEEDS OF LITERACY is a nonprofit organization offering free, one-to-one tutoring in adult basic education and GED preparation. There is an urgent need for more tutors.Together we can break a root cause of poverty: illiteracy.
