This process is for adults who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith and who may want to consider becoming a Catholic Christian by experiencing the sacraments of Baptism (if not already baptized in another Christian tradition), Confirmation and Eucharist.
The journey through this process is a gradual one, designed to deepen a persons relationship with God and with a believing community.
We begin with your questions about the faith, and the events of your life that have brought you to this point of inquiring into Catholicism. From there we move to a period of close study and reflection upon the Scriptures which focus specially on the events of the life of Jesus. In the season of Lent we begin a more intense time of prayer and preparation for the sacraments of Baptism, confirmation and Eucharist which take place at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. In the last phase of the process (after one has actually become Catholic) we concentrate on how our new members can become integrated into our community and more fully live their faith in their day to day lives.
We gather twice a month for the inquiry (first) phase of this process. During the Catechumenate and during Lent (second and third) phases we gather Sunday mornings to attend the liturgy of the Word at Mass and are then dismissed after the homily to discuss the readings and homily and how they pertain to our lives.
Participants in RCIA also attend a monthly GIFT session.
