Weekly Bulletin 3/15/15

Dear Parishioner,

Part of the Christian life is to admit our failures and our need to grow. This Wednesday, March 18th at 7:00 p.m. we will hold our Lenten Communal Penance Service which will provide an opportunity to ask for God’s help and forgiveness. The Sacrament of Penance is a powerful way to experience the forgiving love of God in the midst of our community. As we gather together, we remind ourselves that our weaknesses and faults do not simply hinder our relationship with God but also our relationship with each other. Since we together are the Body of Christ, our individual failures at love, justice, and peace lessen the life of Christ’s Body.

Coming together to admit our faults is then a time of healing not only for our personal lives, but also for the life of the whole Church.

Remember, even if you do not desire to receive the Sacrament of Penance by coming forward to confess your sins, you may still wish to join in the penance service. Joining in the music and prayer of the evening is valuable as a reminder of our own need to grow and as a support to those who choose to confess their sins.

Please consider joining us this Wednesday to celebrate the generous forgiveness of our God.

Fr. George Smiga

TWO FEET OF LOVE IN ACTION – The tradition of Catholic Social Teaching recognizes two distinct, but related forms of service. The U.S. Bishops refer to these as the “Two Feet of Love in Action” because we need both to continue moving forward in our mission of building the Kingdom of God.  This weekend and the weekend of March  21st & 22nd, you are invited to attend a brief session after Mass to understand these “two feet” and to help determine the future direction of our social justice efforts at St. Noel.  These sessions will happen after each of the Masses and will last about 30 minutes.  Your voice is important; please plan to attend.  Coffee and donuts are welcome at the sessions!
