Weekly Bulletin 2/8/15

Dear Parishioner,

Last year our diocese set aside a day during Lent when all parishes offered the Sacrament of Penance. This year that opportunity will be provided again. On Wednesday, March 4th every Catholic church in our diocese will be providing a time to celebrate the sacrament from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Using funds from the Rooted in Faith Campaign, our diocese will be publicizing this event through TV, radio and digital media. This event is not intended for active parishioners of St. Noel. We will be celebrating our Lenten Penance Service two weeks later on Wednesday, March 18th at 7:00 p.m. I encourage you to join us then.

The opportunity on March 4th is for Catholics who have ceased practicing their faith and wish to return to the Church.

If you know someone who is in this situation, I ask you to reach out to them and let them know of this area-wide opportunity. They are able to come to any Catholic church in our diocese, but they are most welcome to come to St. Noel. We will have a greeter in the Narthex to welcome anyone who decides to receive the sacrament.

We can never be sure how much a simple invitation can help another person. I suggest in the upcoming weeks that you ask those who you feel could benefit from this opportunity to come to St. Noel on March 4th.

Fr. George Smiga

2014 TAX INFORMATION – St. Noel has transferred this year to a new data system. Despite our best efforts to merge the new and old systems we now understand that several parishioners received inaccurate 2014 tax statements this January. Some included 2015 donations and others showed duplicate entries. We are now in the process of re-entering the information into the new system. This is a labor-intensive project and we are working diligently to complete it. All parishioners will receive a new statement of their 2014 donations by February 13, 2015.

Please be aware that the statement already sent to you may be inaccurate. If you have any questions or need an updated statement of your 2014 donations before February 13th, please call the parish office.

SOCIAL JUSTICE COLLECTION – This weekend, our ushers will be in the Narthex to accept your donations to our Social Justice Fund.

At 2:30 p.m. our talent show will conclude the afternoon.
