Weekly Bulletin 6/29/14

Dear Parishioner,

Child sexual abuse remains a curse in our world. The sin of child abuse affects all parts of society including the Catholic Church. When this reality was first exposed in Church circles, faithful Catholics were rightly outraged. Over the past years the Church and our diocese specifically have taken steps to protect our children. Part of that process is to assure that all ministers and volunteers who work with children are aware of the signs of sexual abuse and the procedure for reporting it. The  VIRTUS® program is the means used in our diocese to provide this education.

St. Noel will be holding a VIRTUS® Training Session on Tuesday, July 8th at 6:30 p.m. in the Small Hall of the Banquet Center. Although this program is directed primarily toward volunteers who work with children at St. Noel, anyone who is entrusted with the care of children is encouraged to attend. The VIRTUS®  program helps the Church to be a safe haven for children and a messenger for prevention of child sexual abuse within the Church and society in general.

To register, go to www.dioceseofcleveland.org and click on “Protecting Children” in the A-Z index. Click on “VIRTUS” and follow directions from there. If you have questions about the process, please contact Michele (440-946-1128, ext. 21 or [email protected]).

It is impossible to undo the harm that has been done to children who were abused, but through programs such as VIRTUS® we can take steps to prevent abuse in the future.

IF YOU’RE CURIOUS ABOUT THE CATHOLIC FAITH – or if you have thought about becoming a Catholic, our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) might just be for you!  Adults from all faith traditions or those with no religious background at all are welcome to participate in our gatherings.  In the first phase of the RCIA process, no commitment is required.  We simply meet in an informal atmosphere of conversation and sharing, where you will be free to ask any questions you may have about the Catholic Church, its traditions or worship, and discuss where God might be leading you. These sessions are designed so that your questions and experiences are paramount to our discussion. In addition, we will focus on what the Church teaches about the Bible, spirituality, and ways of expressing our faith. If you or someone you know might be interested in inquiring about the Catholic faith, please call the parish office at 440-946-0887.
