Youth Ministry is not the task of only some of us. It is the call of the entire community. For the past three years, we have approached members of our parish family asking them to contribute to the cost of our high school summer service trip through Young Neighbors In Action. This initiative, called the “20-20 Club,” is a simple idea: 20 members of the parish would contribute $20 and underwrite the cost of one teenager participating in our week-long service experience. Our goal is to fully fund the service week for all teenagers who wish to participate and to send the powerful message to our youth that we love them, support them, and send them forth in our name.
Last year, we were able to do this for 20 young people, including the cost of transportation. Our teens were floored by your support and will forever remember the blessing of being a part of our community.
This summer, we have 18 teens who wish to serve in Buffalo, New York with Young Neighbors In Action, July 13th-19th. It promises to be an extraordinary week of service, learning, and growing in the faith. By contributing to this trip, you say to our teens, “We want you to grow in your relationship with Christ.”
After Masses next weekend, a representative will be in the narthex to accept your donations toward this effort. Those who contribute are invited to a post-trip gathering on Sunday, July 27th after the 11:00 a.m. Mass, where they will have the opportunity to hear about the experience from the teens who attended.
You may also bring donations to the parish office during the week. Checks should be made out to St. Noel, with “YNIA” in the memo line.
Please consider contributing to this parish-wide effort to provide our youth with a significant opportunity to come to know the joy of their faith in a deeper way.
SUMMER MASS SCHEDULE – Beginning Wednesday, June18, and going through Wednesday, August 27th, there will be no evening Masses, except for the Anointing of the Sick Masses on July 10th and August 14th. The Wednesday evening Masses will resume on September 3rd.
BULLETIN ARTICLES – Because of the Memorial Day Holiday, any articles for the bulletins for May 24th and 25th and May 31st and June 1st, need to be in the office by Tuesday, May 20th.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2014 happens July 14-18 (Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.). Volunteers are invited to sign up at the table in the narthex after Masses this weekend (May 17 & 18). Volunteers can also register their children this weekend. Open registration will be after Masses on the weekends of June 7th & 8th and June 14th & 15th. Questions? VBS NEEDS BABY FOOD JAR LIDS – Put CLEAN lids in a baggie marked “VBS” and leave them on the bench between the narthex and the office.
CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP – Those who attended the caregiver retreat in March expressed a strong desire to create a support group for Caregivers. We will hold our first meeting on Thursday, May 22nd at 1:00 p.m. in the Resurrection Room and warmly invite anyone who is a caregiver. We all need a place to talk about the struggles and joys of caregiving. Having others who understand the depth of our commitment and the toll it can take provides great comfort as we look for solutions and accept the many times when solutions are not apparent. SOCIAL JUSTICE-HELP OUR NEIGHBORS: Assistance for the elderly is a growing need in Lake County and a small offer of assistance can make a big impact on lives. Faith in Action of Lake County is spearheaded by Senior Independence and funded by the United Way of Lake County. It is designed to meet the needs of the frail, elderly and disabled of Lake County that have not been met by other means. The type of help being given includes friendly visits, shopping/errands, light housekeeping, meal preparation and transportation to doctors’ appointments. SOCIAL JUSTICE/ST. AUGUSTINE – On Sunday, May 25th, our volunteers will be serving the meal at the St. Augustine Hunger Center. There is a sign-up sheet on the kiosk if you are able to lend a hand.

HUGE RECYCLING EVENT – This weekend. Enviro–recycling, a local recycling company, will be at St. Noel from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 17th, and Sunday, May 18th from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. to accept all electronic devices for recycling as well as all metals. If it was plugged into a socket or ran on batteries, they will accept it at no charge. More information is available on the St. Noel website. LOOSE CHANGE FOR WOMANKIND – Help us change the lives of an expectant mom and her baby by participating in our Womankind Baby Bottle Fund Raiser. Baby bottles available in the narthex. We are asking you to take one home, fill it with your loose change, and return it to the church office on or before the weekend of June 14th and 15th (Father’s Day ). The funds generated will help Womankind provide free prenatal care and a full range of support services to pregnant women in need. THE CLEVELAND FOOD BANK, along with the Western Lake County Food Pantries, is sponsoring a Free Farmers Market. Note the time change from those in the past: June 26th, July 24th, and August 28th, the 4th Thursday of the month, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor, Ohio. Eligibility guidelines, established by the government, are available in the parish office.
Something to think about from the St. Noel Endowment Board…. If you have included St. Noel in your estate plan or would like to know how, please contact the office and leave a message for the Endowment. One of our trustees will confidentially contact you. We are making progress toward our goal of “50 Wills for the Future of St. Noel”, but we need to know of YOUR plan.

ALL SAINTS 5K AND 1 MILE FUNDRAISER – Mark your calendars and save the date for this year’s Fr. Kline 5K and Rose Wilson 1 Mile Walk. This year’s race will be Saturday, May 24th at Veteran’s Park in Mentor at 8:00 a.m. The cost is $18.00 for pre-registered runners and $20.00 the day of the event. Runners that register by May 15th receive a t-shirt. The cost for the walkers is $10.00 per person or $25.00 per family, with children under 5 free. We again are teaming up with Second Sole in Mentor and registration and sponsorship forms can be found online at www.greaterclevelandxc.com. All proceeds for this event support All Saints School and Fr. Kline’s and Mrs. Wilson’s vision for Catholic Education.
TOUCH OF LIFE: BECOME A HOSPICE VOLUNTEER – The next three sessions of volunteer classes will take place in our Mentor office on Wednesdays and Fridays, May 21, 23,28 and 30th from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m., David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland; Mondays and Wednesdays, June 9,11,16 and 18th from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.; or Parkside Church in Chagrin Falls, Saturdays, June 21, and 28th from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Teens and volunteers not having patient contact only need to attend the first hour of a series while most other volunteers attend all sessions.
