In the weeks before Easter we asked you to participate in a parish-wide survey to determine an area of Advocacy which St. Noel could implement. The results of that survey were very gratifying and can be found on our website stnoel.org. One hundred seventy-seven parishioners completed the survey. Of these, 63 indicated that it would be desirable for St. Noel to begin a regular meal to host those in need and connect people to resources that could improve their lives. 53 parishioners chose the option that St. Noel would offer a General Educational Development Program (GED) to allow people to earn the equivalency of a high school diploma. 31 parishioners chose the Advocacy option of assisting those released from prison to become integrated into our community. 30 people chose the option of assisting women experiencing a crisis pregnancy.
Of the 177 who completed the survey, 86 expressed an interest in participating in the ministries to be developed. Because the response was so positive, the parish staff and social justice committee, with the support of the pastoral council, has decided to call together those parishioners who have indicated a desire to be involved. Rather than choosing one area of Advocacy, we feel it is better to discern whether we have the resources to implement more. I will describe what the next steps will be in my letter next week.

SUMMER MASS SCHEDULE – There will be no Wednesday evening Masses through Wednesday, September 2nd, except for the Anointing of the Sick Masses on June 17th and July 8th. The Wednesday evening Masses will resume on September 9th.
BABY BOTTLES CHANGE LIVES – Did you pick up a baby bottle? Our annual baby bottle fundraiser has begun and runs through Father’s Day. Get your bottle at the table in the narthex. PARISH DAYTIME RETREAT: CALL TO TRANSFORMATION – Will be held on Wednesday, June 10th, from 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Sister Lisa Marie Belz, O.S.U., PhD will be the speaker. 20/20 CLUB – Donations are still needed for the 20/20 Club. If we raise another $500 we will be able to fund the entire cost of the summer service trip for our high school youth to Detroit, Michigan through Young Neighbors in Action. CEDAR POINT – Youth Ministry is hosting a trip to Cedar Point for all youth in grades 6-12 on Monday, June 15th. We will leave from St. Noel at 8 a.m. and return to St. Noel at 12 a.m. Tickets are $40 and checks can be made out to St. Noel. Be sure to pack a lunch that you will eat at the park. Snacks will be available throughout the day but bring money for dinner at Cedar Point. We will need a number of drivers. Parents, if you are able to chaperone this event please let Erica know. Permission slips are available on the kiosk in the narthex. Permission slips and payment are due by Monday, June 8th.
NOEL FELLOWSHIP – Meetings are held on Thursdays at 12:00 Noon in the St. Noel Banquet Center Small Hall. Activities are: On May 28th, Bingo, Birthdays & Anniversaries. Bring something for the Food Pantry and get a free 50/50 ticket. Everyone is welcome!
PARISH ADVOCACY INITIATIVE – 86 people expressed interest in a particular area of advocacy and are being contacted for involvement. We will gather these people, and any other interested parishioners, on Tuesday, June 9th in the Small Hall beginning at 7:00 p.m. Our purpose will be to identify leaders and move forward with any of the initiatives that have sufficient energy. All those who indicated “YES” on the survey will receive an invitation to this meeting.

GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION – Bishop Lennon will celebrate the annual Golden Wedding Anniversary Celebration this year at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on Sunday, July 26th, at 2:30 p.m. Registrations are now being accepted for couples married 50 years (married in 1965). Couples who are celebrating other significant anniversaries (55 or over) or who have missed previous celebrations are welcome to register and attend. DIVORCE RECOVERY FOR CATHOLICS – is an 8 week support group designed to meet the needs of those who are divorced or separated.
