Joint Liturgy of the Word with Music 5-14-2019

The inter-faith committee SHARED HOPE, comprised of St. Noel and Advent Lutheran parishioners, invites you to join us in prayer and music led by Pastors Fr. George Smiga and Rev. Steven Bond.  Participating in this service will be the combined musicians, choirs, and children of God from both churches. We come together in gratitude and appreciation to celebrate the progress made in the last fifty years on an international level to heal the breach that developed as a result of the separation of Catholic and Protestants 500 years ago. Through this and other collaborative efforts, we work and pray for the day when all Christians will be united with each other in the mission and ministry of Jesus.

In the spirit of Ecumenism and with the blessings of Fr. George Smiga and the Parish Pastoral Council a small and courageous contingent from St. Noel Church has been meeting with  a small  and courageous contingent from Advent Lutheran Church blessed by Pastor Steve Bond for an interfaith dialogue that is intended to come to understand the history that unites and divides us as a faith community, to promote Christian unity, and to work together in some kind of joint service for God’s Kingdom.

 SHARED HOPE PURPOSE STATEMENT

Develop a relationship between practicing Lutherans and Catholics that promotes open and honest dialogue, education in core religious beliefs and practices, and  promulgate acceptance of each other as children of God.

SHARED HOPE CORE VALUES

That the one holy catholic and apostolic church on Earth is one in Christ.

That it is the will of Christ that we work and worship together to express the oneness we enjoy in our Lord Jesus Christ.

That the historical ecumenical creeds (Apostle’s and Nicene) express verbally and adequately the faith of the church catholic as a basis for working and  worshiping together in the Kingdom of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

That we reject all the forces of evil that would violate our unity in Christ or inhibit our service for Him, as Jesus first served us.

We dedicate ourselves to daily prayer for one another, the church, and the world.
