The Christmas Project 2016

Posted in: Parish Life

Each year, our parish comes together to offer some assistance to those in need during the holidays. Referrals come to us from Head Start for Lake and Geauga County as well as our food pantry.

As in the past, each participant in the Christmas Project will receive a basket filled with items that bring holiday cheer. Each basket will also hold gift cards to Target and Giant Eagle so that families can do their own Christmas shopping. And to add a special touch, we will gather together to bake cookies and make ornaments for each basket before we wrap them up for delivery on December 17th.

There are a number of ways to be a part of this project. After masses during the month of November you can stop by the table in the narthex and pick-up your empty basket which you will fill with fun, holiday items. We even provide a list for you of some suggestions. You can also sponsor a family which means you fill the basket AND purchase the gift cards that will go to the family.

Since all baskets will ultimately receive gifts cards, we are also in need of monetary donations which will cover the cost of the gifts cards for unsponsored baskets. Or, if it’s easier for you, you can pick-up gift cards in the amount of $10 when you are doing your shopping at Target and Giant Eagle. Those cards will go into baskets as well.

Be sure to keep an eye on the bulletin for more information in the upcoming weeks about cookie baking, basket wrapping and basket delivery.  We need lots of help from parishioners for all of these opportunities.
