You may have noticed the wooden structure which is now located at the entrance of our parking lot. This is a drop-off shed sponsored by St. Pauly Textile. St. Pauly collects clothing and delivers it to relief organizations throughout our country and the world. Unlike some organizations which collect clothing, St. Pauly does not cut up clothing for use as rags, but delivers the clothes to those in need. In 2010, more than 51 million garments were distributed by St. Pauly to an estimated 6.37 million people all over the world. You can read more about St. Pauly at http://st-pauly.com/index.html.
The items that can be placed in the shed are all clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, blankets, sheets, pillowcases, drapes and stuffed toys. Please…NO rags, fabric scraps, pillows, toys or household goods; please understand that the above unwanted items are a hardship and expense to dispose of.
You can drop your clothing in the shed whenever you wish. St. Pauly will give St. Noel four cents for every pound collected. This profit will be placed in our Social Justice Fund. We will continue to accept donated clothes in our clothing bins inside the church so that people from our community can find what they need.
As you can see there is now more than one way your unused clothes can help others. So go to your closet, take out what you no longer use and bring it to us. You can use the space and others can use your clothes.
